BICESTER SPIRITUALIST CHURCH
established 1989
OUR FOUNDER
Mrs Rita Clifton was the founder of Bicester Spiritualist Church when she met and joined with other like minded people to form the church in 1989. It originally met in a room in The Kings Arms Hotel and subsequently moved around Bicester until settling in the Pop In for a number of years. Following a bequest from a member of the church with a wish that it be put to finding a permanent home for the church in 2010 the search began. Eventually it was decided to buy the KETA club, which is now renamed after the founder as The Clifton Centre . Extensive work to prepare the building for its use over a year by the Trustees and Committee members and finally the church was ready for its members in September 2011. The Centre is hired by a number of local organisations and is in use most days of the week. In 2015 a grant was obtained from Viridor to renovate the two unused changing rooms into two small meeting rooms, with a seperate kitchen and toilet/disabled toilet for addtional availability for smaller meetings that did not require the use of the large hall.
